Chestnut

Hello, Hello! This is super late so I won't post the daily news. I drew a picture today :)

Theres a story behind this picture. First things first, it's a horse. His name is Chestnut and this is when he was just a foal. Here is his short little story.....

 

Chestnut's parents were killed from a deadly disease that only came during the winter. Without any parents, Chestnut soon became stressed and miserable. The farmer was afraid that he was going to get sick also, so Chestnut was sent to a different farm, far away from the sick horses. The little foal felt scared with nobody to comfort him when he was put into a hay-filled stall. Alone, he started to slowly drift off to sleep. Suddenly, a gray and white shape quietly trotted into his stall. Chestnut looked up to see a beautiful mare, with sparkling black eyes. She bent down to brush snouts with him.

"My name is Crystal." She said softly. "Whats your name, little one?"

Chestnut tried to make his voice not crack. "My name is Chestnut."

Crystal settled down next to him and let the little brown foal rest his head on her shoulder.

Crystal had another foal, Lightning, who was about the same age as Chestnut. He was a dark gray and immediately started to show Chestnut around the farm. He found out that it was at the bottom of a huge mountain, where the racehorses galloped up the long mountain trail to the top.

Chestnut also met Shadow, Lightning's father. He was a solid black with a long hairy tail. When he first saw Chestnut he snorted, "So this is what Crystal is taking care of now? I thought we would only stick with one foal."

Shadow obviously hated Chestnut.

Crystal would spend time with the brown foal throughout the day, introducing him to the other horses and racehorses. Crystal barely paid any attention to her real son. Shadow was anger with Chestnut for stealing Crystal away, so he would take Lightning to the top of the mountain to explore.

One day, Shadow and Crystal were taking a nice evening walk, with the two foals having a little race behind them. Whenever Shadow was with Crystal, his mind spun with love and passion. They stopped at a small cliff that had another piece of land jutting out right across. This was a fairly short jump that the horses had to make when galloping up the mountain.

As the two horses stared out at the setting sun, Chestnut came racing up the small hill to them. He tried to skid to a halt but he was going too fast.

Chestnut slammed right into Crystal, making her lose her balance.

The gray mare let out a scream as she stumbled over the edge, where a large lake and a huge waterfall lay at the bottom of the long fall.

Shadow let out a high pitched whinnie as Crystal fell to her death, landing in the water and never surfacing.

She had drowned.

The black stallion spun around, misery and fury building up in his eyes.

"You are an idiot!" He screamed, his eyes blazing. "You will never be loved or comforted by me! I hate you! You should have stayed at your other barn and be left to die with those other diseased rats!"

Chestnut felt tears welling up in his eyes.

"I'm sorry." His voice cracked.

Shadow charged past him, kicking dirt into his little brown face.

Lightning followed, sniffling as he wept.

Crystal was gone.

Shadow would get his revenge.

 

 

The picture is Chestnut shedding tears as Shadow yelled at him. Sad, isn't it?

But this is only the beginning...

Note: I've also decided to not really do any new items posts. My authors may continue to do that if they want to. I will post updates on my books and write stories about Jamaa legends! (If you don't already know, I LOVE to write stories).
